MANGUPURA, NusaBali.com – During the State-owned Enterprises (SOE) International Conference on October 17-18, 2022, about 100 kilograms of surplus food was secured from ending up in landfills.

Scholars of Sustenance (SOS) Indonesia is the key player behind this bold action taken at that minister level and best practices meeting held at Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center in Badung Regency.

The secured meals then distributed to the most vulnerable communities, particularly those who recently was affected by the hydrometeorological disaster in Tabanan Regency. Among the areas targeted by the Bo H Holmgreen’s non-profit foundation were Sudimara and Gubug villages situated in the Tabanan sub-district.

Minni Vangsgaard, 52, the SOS Indonesia General Manager, has talked to the meetings committee about the possibility of future cooperation in securing and preventing edible surplus meals made for the delegates culminates as waste and food loss.

“This is just the beginning,” she said, confirmed by NusaBali.com on Wednesday (10/26/2022).

The Danish, Indonesian citizen spoke that she had built the food-securing channel for not only the meetings committee but also the chefs in charge of preparing the meals behind the convention center’s pantries.

“We hope for hand-in-hand actions to address food security problems,” she said, calling for concrete actions.

Meanwhile, sharing love and caring toward food-vulnerable communities brought radiant feelings for the SOS Indonesia team, Minni said. It will be a normal action as it is what the foundation casually does yet always ushers positive energy into the heart and minds of the people.

On the other hand, the food and energy crisis will grow unclouded in the future or even by next year. The world’s growth is jostled by the Russia-Ukraine war generated a multidimensional predicament.

As the global energy producer (Russia) and two world's largest wheat producers, the two nations in tensions would affect international stability, in this case, food and energy aside from other various instabilities caused.

In response to the current situation, the SOE Conference as a part of the Trade, Investment, and Industry Working Group (TIIWG) must push forward global SOE transformation and roles for contributing to the creation of sustainable and inclusive growth and ensure that no one is left behind. *rat
