Disrupted Plot Revealed in Bali Shooting Trial as Defendants Cite Mysterious ‘Controller’
DENPASAR, NusaBali.com - The ongoing trial over the fatal shooting of Australian national Zivan Radmanovic (32) at the Denpasar District Court on Monday (December 15, 2025) has further exposed the tangled and allegedly disrupted plot behind the incident, with the defendants admitting that the plan initially conveyed to them unraveled and spiraled out of control.
The case centers on a deadly shooting at a luxury villa in Munggu, Badung, in mid-June 2025, an incident that shocked Bali residents and drew international attention. All three defendants in the case are Australian nationals.
Following testimony from Darcy Francesco Jenson (27), who appeared as a crown witness, the two main defendants, Mevlut Coskun (22) and Paea-i-Middlemore Tupou (26), acknowledged the existence of a figure they described as a “controller” behind the operation. However, like Darcy, both refused to reveal the individual’s identity, citing fears for their personal safety and that of their families.
“I cannot mention the name because it concerns my safety and my family’s safety,” Coskun told the panel of judges through an interpreter.
During the hearing, prosecutors from the Badung District Attorney’s Office questioned the defendants extensively, tracing events from their initial arrival in Indonesia to the shooting itself and their attempted escape afterward.
Darcy testified that he was acting under instructions from a person he referred to as “Mr X,” whom he met while in Australia. He insisted that he was merely following orders and denied orchestrating the shooting.
“I am afraid to mention his name because my family and I are under threat,” Darcy said in court.
Coskun and Tupou later corroborated Darcy’s account, confirming that they were aware of an external controller but chose to remain silent about the person’s identity.
