JEMBRANA, NusaBali.com - Two suspects involved in the recent shooting of two Australian nationals in Badung, Bali, have been arrested by Indonesian police. One suspect was apprehended in Jakarta, while the other was captured abroad and is currently en route to Jakarta.

The announcement was made by Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo during a media briefing on Tuesday (June 17) in Jembrana, where he was inaugurating the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) at the Jembrana Police Headquarters.

"Regarding the shooting involving Australian citizens, I have received a report from the Bali Police Chief. One suspect has been secured in Jakarta, and another is on the way from overseas," said General Sigit.

However, the police chief did not disclose further details such as the identities, motive, or the timeline of the arrests. He stated that a full briefing would be held by the Bali Regional Police in the near future.

"A more detailed statement will be released by Bali Police. What I can say for now is that this case was solved through cooperation between our Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim), Immigration, and the Australian Federal Police (AFP)," he added.

As previously reported, two Australian citizens, identified by their initials ZR and SG, were shot by unknown assailants while staying at a villa located on Jalan Pantai Munggu Seseh, Banjar Sedahan, Munggu Village, Mengwi District, Badung, in the early hours of Saturday (June 14).

Witnesses stated that there were two attackers, and initial suspicions suggested that both might also be Australian nationals. The gunmen used firearms during the attack.

The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation as authorities continue to gather evidence and statements.
