SOS Has Signed a Partnership MoU with 16 Hotels from the Accor Group

DENPASAR, NusaBali.com - Scholars of Sustenance Bali Indonesia (SOS) signed MoU with Accor Hotel Bali on Friday (10/2) at Mercure Resort Sanur. The agenda expands the partnership between SOS and 16 hotels of Accor members as the new surplus food donors.

The ceremony was attended by Jan Kroeckel, the Area General Manager of Accor Bali Lombok, representation from each Accor group member, Bo H. Holmgreen as Founder and CEO of SOS Global, and Ratna Soebrata as General Manager of Scholars Of Sustenance Indonesia.

Jan Kroeckel gave the welcoming speech, expressing that he and Accor were delighted to be able to contribute and help SOS  in rescuing surplus food. 

"We are very excited to be part of this action for the community, environment and sustainability," Jan stated.

Bo H. Holmgreen also gave the opening speech, thanking Accor Group for wanting to join this noble cause while he also mentioned inequity issues of food distribution in the World.

"There are 8 billion people in the World, we produce enough food for 10 billion population however 1 billion people go to bed with hunger," the Danish national said.


The agenda continued with remarks from Ratna Soebrata and the signing of the MoU by each representative from 16 Accor member hotels. 

The 16 hotels are:

Previously, Pullman Bali Legian and Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran have become food donors for SOS in the past few years. A well-developed partnership made the expansion of cooperation between SOS and Accor Hotel Bali members resulting in the signing of an MoU with 16 hotels.

Right now, SOS Bali has more than 40 hotel partners as surplus food donors and has distributed 29,643 meals in February to vulnerable communities in Bali. 

As the biggest surplus food rescue organization in South-East Asia, SOS Global which operates in Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines has a target to distribute 50 million meals by the end of 2025. Thus, SOS requires cooperation from various parties to realize food equity while reducing methane gas that causes climate change.

SOS Indonesia wants to continue to work on expanding the partnership network with various stakeholders as well as being a pioneer in saving food and a source of education for the community.
